Hi,

I am using FM10 (Structured) + XML to create a document.

Page has side column.

I'd like to use "boilerplate graphics".

We can see sample and tutorial of boilerplate graphics in next page:

http://help.adobe.com/en_US/FrameMaker/9.0/Using/WSd817046a44e105e21e63e3d11ab7f74e4d-7f9c.html

It says that copy graphics on reference page to paset on body page...Unacceptable!

What I want is:

When I use, e.g. <note> tag, a boilerplate graphics at applicable position.

(In side column, upper border of graphic and paragraph are in same line.

The type of graphics should be changed corresponding to attribute of <note> tag.

(e.g.@type="warning" => exclamation mark, @TyPe="tips" => lightbuble...)

Can I do that?

Thanks

Yes, you can do what you want.

I copy the various graphics to a reference page and give each a name (check the user guide on how to do this). Then the EDD uses Advanced Properties > Frame below to insert the appropriate frame from the reference page, depending upon the value of an attribute. You may have to create a special element that is empty but inserts the graphic. If the graphic is in its own paragraph in the side head and the note/warning itself is in the main column, then you might need to set the paragraph that inserts the graphic to a font size of 2 pt and line height to 0 pt, to minimize the line containing the anchored frame marker. But your arrangement may be different.

The point is you can use the paragraph formatting of frame above or frame below to insert a frame from the reference page, the frame that holds the graphic. The graphic can either be imported by reference or copy; it all depends on what you find more convenient. I do the former (import by reference), then I can update the graphics are will without having to update templates.
