We have FM9 and really need this thing too! Was there any reply to this or any new information?

Thanks!

An alternative might be to upgrade to FrameMaker 2015. FM 2015 has a built in "Package" feature that helps to archive single files or complete books.

FrameMaker 2015 Packager – Archive a single file or a complete book.

FrameMaker 2015 Packager Settings – Archive a single file or a complete book.

Hi Stefan,

The package script in FrameMaker 2015 only "packages" the files that are in the current folder as the FrameMaker *.fm or *.book. This is not very useful if all of the necessary files are in different folders.

Hi Tom,

the > File > Package packs all files of a book together including files in subfolders. However, files that exist "outside" of the containing folder (e.g. files in a folder "parallel" to the folder that contains the book or files on other drives) will not be packaged. Do you know if Bruce Foster's plugin is doing this?

Cheers,

*Stefan.

Hi Stefan,

Yes, Bruce's archive plugin packages everything in the file or book to a single folder. If you move this folder to another computer you can open the file of book and have everything you need.

This is important for most of us because we have covers, boiler plates, appendices, and glossaries that are often shared between many books. In my case the last step in publishing is to package the book for print and translation. I need something that will package everything regardless of where it is on a drive or a company network. I had some extra money and bought Squidds Finalyser. It has a complete book package command in addition to some other nice utilities for FrameMaker.

FrameMaker already knows where everything is located in the book, why dosen't the script?

Adobe InDesign also has a "Package" that gets everything.

You may want to check out an Extendscipt version that Rick Quatro just announced over on the Framers list:

ArchiveES works with FrameMaker 10 and higher and does NOT require

FrameScript. For details, see
