Can a table be made that has pre-populated heading rows?

I am using unstructured FM 11. I want to create unique Parts List tables. I want the heading rows to come pre-populated with Part Number, Source, Nomenclature (and others as needed). I create the table and its format. I populate the cells as I want. Then save the table as the name/format I want. However, I go to insert a new table with that name, and all the cells are blank. What am I doing wrong?

Assign unique Paragraph Formats to the heading cells that need pre-pop.

Use the Autonumber properties of those paragraphs to display the text desired (autonums don't actually have to be numbered).

That did it! Sort of. Now how can I make a 1 row heading, with the top row having straddled columns?

Example: 6 column table. A, B, C, Stock Number, Part Number, Nomenclature are the column titles. How can I add another row so I can put Qty above the A, B, C columns only?

I tried to add a 2nd header row, and straddle the columns above A, B, C along with a unique "Qty" para tag. But when I insert a table with the table name I chose, everything is blank, and QTY is scrunched to the far left in both header rows.

Don't have an obvious hack for that.

I would create an empty table, laid out as desired, on a Reference Page, then copy & paste the whole thing as needed onto Body pages.
