I have started with FrameMaker 6 as a full version, then I updated to FrameMaker 7, currently I am using an updated version FrameMaker 8.
Since I will get a new PC soon I want to upgrade to Technical Communication Suite 2. With FrameMaker 8 I am eligible to update, but is it possible to install the TCS 2 on a new PC without a pre-installed version of FrameMaker?
The former Updates searched for an installed version of FrameMaker before I could install the updated version. Is it now sufficient to only have the serial number of the previous version or do I have to install it all again beginning with FrameMaker 6?
Thanks for your assistance

I would think that the serial number should be sufficient. HOWEVER, when I just upgraded to Windows 7 with a clean install, I installed the component with FrameMaker 8. FrameMaker 8 does a better job of updating earlier files that have the Symbol font and/or some Mathematics capabilities better than FrameMaker 9. So I'd keep FrameMaker 8. It does work and it doesn't take up much room.
