Hi Amit,

You should just experiment, check the online help and of course learn more about computing!

Open the File menu, click Save as, and then select RTF.

RTF is the exchange format in Word.

Then open the RTF file in Word and save it in whatever Word file variant you want.

Best regards, Winfried

Hi Winfried, I did the same but file is not converted with the same format. Formatting is in disorder. It's just like saving FM file into pdf and then converting into word by right clicking on it. Is there any better way to convert FM file into MS word with the exack same formatting. Pls reply.

Amit, you can never get "the exact same format" across the borders of applications with so different goals: Word is meant for one-shot documents like letters and greeting-cards, FrameMaker is used to process documents with a long life time (even > 20 years) and many automatisms. In addition, there is no hidden intelligence (like the default tab locations in Word) in FrameMaker. So please accept to learn the essential nowledge with an online - course (e.g. at the institution of Barb Binder).

Hi Amit:

Sometimes you can get cleaner results publishing a FrameMaker file to PDF and then exporting to Word or RTF from Adobe Acrobat Pro.

My question is why you want to export your FrameMaker file to Word.

For most of us, Word is used to compose and edit documentation that will be imported into FrameMaker. Files aren't typically exported back to Word. If you want to do this for editing purposes, please watch my recent video on Review and Collaboration. Word is not involved, at all.

Alright, thank you! Actually, development team are not familiar with FM, so they ask for document in word format so that they can use it for editing.
