Can't install Trial Version of Framemaker 9

New Here ,
Aug 26, 2009 Aug 26, 2009

I've downloaded the trial version of Framemaker 9 and when installing get the error message ' A problem occurred while extracting some file. Check available space on your computer and the write privileges on the destination folder '.

I'm running Vista and logged on as an administrator.

I have 50Gb of space

I've deleted everything in the Temp folder

I have tried running the .EXE as an administrator in XP mode Compatibility Mode.

I have tried running vista in Simplified Mode

Anyone have any ideas please?

Depending on your setup, you may be a local administrator which may not have suffecient privs...

I'd try booting into Safe Mode, logging in as Admin, and trying that.

Adobe does provide free tech support for install issues -- you could probably try giving them a call too.

Art,

Thanks for your response.   I've since tried to install the trial version on a different Vista Machine with exactly same results and I took your suggestion of booting into Safe Mode.   I have however, managed to install it onto on older XP machine.

OK thanks I'll try the Tech Support for Install Issues.

If I'm successful I'll post the solution.

Thanks

Ian

It probably won't help with your particular problem, but to install it on Windows 7, you have to run the installer in Vista mode.
