I'd like to convert a lot of Mac FM7 documents to Win FM8 documents.
I reformated a lot of pictures, changed all files in book to FM8 files, I changed all characters and paragraph entries to use font Times New Roman CE, and still getting message when opening files in book: Document named "nameoffile".fm uses unavailable fonts. To reformat document using available fonts, click OK. Framemaker console opens and listed all old Mac fonts, which are supposed to be changed to some default fonts ala Times New Roman, Times New Roman Bold,...
I click OK, document opens and all entries are in Times New Roman CE, as I want. When I close a document it asks If I want to save changes, I choose Yes, but the next time I open a document it's the same story again.
When I want to print the book I get an error log saying that it can't open document's in book, because they are using unavailable fonts.
Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Fonts can reside in a number of other places. Further, if you have
your Preferences set to preserve fonts, then it will be quite
difficult to get rid of them.

First change your Preferences to turn off "Remember Missing Font
Names" in the compatibility section.

Then open all files in your book (Shift + click on File > Open All
Files in Book) and accept the missing font warnings.

Next, save all files in the book (Shift + click on File > Save All
Files in Book).

You can reset your Preferences at this point if you wish.

Now you should be able to create a PDF of your book. Tip: it's usually
better to have all files in the book open before doing the SaveAs to
avoid the situation that you're running into.

I think this may be in the FAQ, but it sounds as if your system is using fonts that are unavailable to the Acrobat printer instance.

So first, I'd set the system default printer to Adobe PDF, so the system and Frame will only use fonts that are available to the PDF engine.
Second, in your preferences, it sounds as if you have "Remember Missing Fonts" toggled On. Which would make FM remember the missing fonts, each time you open the file. Toggle it Off.

Then open all the files in the book (Shift - File > Open All), save them all, and try to PDF again.

Thank you both for quick and working solution. It was me not noticing "Remember missing font" option in Preferences. Opening files and saving them accepting changes helped.
Setting AdobePDF as default printer wasn't necessary.
Thanks again!

It may not be necessary, but it's a pretty standard Best Practice.
Recommended if you're serious about producing solid PDFs.
