Character palette easier than keyboard shortcuts?

New Here ,

Am I the only one who hates using the character palette in FM? I find it more time-consuming (unless the character I want is at the top and it just happens to default to my current font) and its hard to read.

Any tips on how to quickly locate what you want in the palette?

I don't quite follow the relationship between thread title and first sentence … but I'll throw in a couple of observations anyway :-}

  • the only time I ever choose a font in FM is when I'm setting up a (paragraph or character) style
  • applying styles with F8/F9 is fast and easy
  • every corporate PC I've ever worked on offers far more fonts than I want to use – where I've been allowed to (or at least, not forbidden to or prevented …) I've moved superfluous fonts to their own directory to make navigating through the ones I do want easier

If you're asking about Format > Font, it appears I can type a single letter to get to the first font with that letter in the name; bonus, I get a sample!
