Sometimes simply clicking on the Conditional Text pod completely crashes FM9, closing all open files, and leaving no recovery files. I've been a FrameMaker user since FM5 and never encountered this problem before FM9. Also, I cannot find anything in the discussions about conditional text crashes that fits the issue that we are having.
We work locally rather than on the network, use p255 unstructured, and use conditional text in all book files. Our manuals are very large and graphics intensive, as well as full of cross-refs among the files. When documenting, I could have open as many as 5 or 6 FM files, so encountering these crashes is a serious issue.
Crashes can occur in any of the files, so it doesn't seem to be file specific. Plus, it can happen with any of the manuals that I'm responsible for, so it's not isolated to only one manual. I can't find any pattern that causes this crash, so it's unpredictable. It happens so often that I've actually developed a physical reaction just before clicking on the CT pod, which is very unpleasant--like stopping my heart.
What is causing this crash?

Hi,
Copy the complete Framemaker project and paste it at some other place in the computer, like if its in some folder in the C:\ drive, you can copy and bring it to your desktop.
Open FM 9 and instead of clicking the book from the Recent items list, click on the open button and browse to your desktop and open the book from there, update the book and save it and then try and apply the conditional text and take a look if its still crashing.
