Our client works on Adobe FrameMaker 9, we would like to work on FrameMaker 12. Is it possible? Are the programs compatible?
No, the programs are not compatible because they have different feature
sets. The files produced by the programs, however, can be made to be
compatible.
However, each can save a file to an intermediate file format (Maker
Interchange Format) which the other can open; once open, the .MIF file can
be modified and resaved.
In this case, your common file format would be MIF vor FM 9 (or a previous
version). Note that any file content added by FM 12 that is NOT recognized
by FM 9 is ignored.
