Converting Abortext files into Framemaker

Guest

Hi Folks,

Currently we convert documentation from another company into our template. Previously they have provided us with Framemaker files that were obviously easy to convert across. In this instance they have provided Abortext and have discontinued providing Framemaker files.

What is the easiest ways to get these files into a format where they are editable using Framemaker? I do not have the abortext software so cannot open the files currently.

Regards,

Niall.

What version of Framemaker you have?

If its Framemaker 10,I think you can try and open that using S1000D template within Framemaker.

The Abortext files are xml or 'met' files.

You can open the XML files in Frame not 'met' files.

try opening XML files and if they are valid ,frame will let you edit it as well.

OK, thanks. However, when I open then in Frame it's written in XML code, not with any structure. Is there a way I can open them that would maintain it's original structure so that I can view headings/ graphic etc?

Thanks again.

When you select File > Open in FrameMaker and select the xml file, FrameMaker should pop up with a dialog asking to select the structure application. Select No application. It should open the file and make an attempt to give it some formatting. Does all this happen? I doubt that it would display the XML code. I have never seen that.

I'd guess that Boeing is what was intended.
