Cross-referencing to an asterisked number

Hello,

I'm trying to create a cross-reference to an asterisked number, e.g. **2001. Is there any way to reference the number without including the asterisk? Do I need to create a new format in the cross-reference box? All of the formats I've tried so far include the ** in the cross-reference. Thanks!

How about something like this? Make a custom paragraph format with the asterisks as an autonumber. Then your paratext cross-reference will just show the number.

Why does that JobCode have that leading **?

There are a number of things that might be done at the source, but if it's an isolated case, you might just create a new Xref format "paratext2001" of Format literal text "2001".

Hello,

I appreciate the suggestions. I considered the Xref format, but the asterisks are used more than once.

I created a custom format with an autonumber, and that seems to be working.

Thank you so much!
