disappearing functions

Just had IT run the installer update patch … the good news is, FM 10 now starts and runs. The less good news is, File > Utilities > Hex input and File > Utilities > Character palette seem to have fallen off: still there in the menu, not greyed, but nothing happens when I click on them. No, I'm not obsessively checking every menu option after every update :-} but this morning I happened to need Unicode character input.  Anyone else had this?

Hi Niels,

Works fine in my insallation after the patch. However, these two utilties are Java-based and Java must  be shutdown while applying the patch. If you had any Java apps running while the patch was applied, this may have hosed the patch/installation, though the FM patch does issue a message to shutdown Java before proceeding.

Alternatively, perhaps you currrently don't have Java enabled/running on your machine and this would prevent these utilities frrom starting. I don'tt believe any warnings or errors are issued, but you could check the console file for any messages.

Thanks! I didn't see any messages go past while watching the installation, so I'll check whether java is running.
