It is not stated clearly - and it needs to be stated clearly - that in a relationship table the element MUST have the type attribute set. If this attribute has no value (as it has by default), related links will not be created and there will be no explanation why. Furthermore, the type attribute value must be "task", "concept", "topic", or "reference", and the values are CASE-SENSITIVE. If the user has specialized topic types, they can be those values too.

The browser/viewer dropped the word "relcolspec" from my previous post because I enclosed it in angle brackets. It should read "the relcolspec element MUST have the type attribute set."
