EDD - Control Flags - hidden - read-only

While reviewing the existing EDD files, I see several of the Elements with Attributes containing "Control Flags - Hidden - Read-Only".  Could somebody point me to a document that explains the reason and functionality of this?

Hi Steve,

the hidden flag is used in the EDD to tell FM, that the attribute is not to appear when editing in your structure. This means by setting it, you can make i.e. unused attributes disappear (while they're still there and valid).

Read-Only attributes can't be set by the user and can be used for "fixed" values (i.e. values that are set by the DTD).
