What am I doing wrong? I am trying to shrinkwrap an anchored frame to fit a graphic by using Esc m p. The frame is shrunk, but it is also moved from below the line to in-line and the anchor disappears. FM 9 (9.0p 196) on Windows 7.

That may have been fixed already - get yourself up to p255

E.,
This is the expected behaviour since every FrameMaker version I know.
The shortcut was invented to shrink Anchored Frames around equations, and those are usually place inline. The anchor itself is not "gone", since the Anchored Frame is positioned "at insertion point" there is no need for a separate anchor.
In conjunction with a dedicated paragraph format with a non-fixed line height setting it is a great way to shrink frames. Of course not, if you need your frames to stay at a certain width.

PS. You should nevertheless update your FrameMaker installation to 9.0.4 (aka 9.0p255).

You may want to obtain the ImpGraph plugin ($25), which changes the default
behavior of inserted graphics. I've found it to be extremely useful. Find it
here: http://home.comcast.net/~bruce.foster/ImpGraph.htm

To amplify on the update advice, each FM update has to be installed sequentially, either through the FM Help menu or downloaded from the website:

As Michael states, that is the way it is. I shrink wrap graphics all the time and the anchored frame is moved inline. One has to select the anchored frame and change its properties. It IS a pain, but that is the way it works.

If something is a continues pain, there is always a solution for this: use the FrameMaker programming interface to create a process that does exactly what you want. As Peter Gold once said:
"There's always a way to do something that can't be done in FrameMaker in FrameMaker."

E,
My WS Utilities plugin has a shrinkwrap function that does the shrinkwrap only, without all that other stuff. It has lots of other features too which require a license to get full use out of, but the shrinkwrap and size-to-fit features are free and won't ever stop working.

Thank you!
From a different thread in this forum I got the impression that this was unexpected behaviour when using Esc m p on anchored frames, but now I know that's how it works.
