I am using FrameMaker 7 and the person who updated a large table for me was using the new FrameMaker 8. In previous years using this table (updated every year), I have just added new content to it and the tabs that were created when I first started were already in place. These tabs run A, B, C, D, etc. freely. I do not have to even adjust the lettering to where it lands. I am not sure why FM 8 will not allow it to flow freely in FM 7? Please advise.

Katie,

It's not clear from your message what the problem actually is... my best guess is letter-specific thumb tabs, but...

In any case, if the table was updated in 8, and you're trying to access it in 7, did the person who did the updates save it in FM7 format?

I am not sure of that. I belive they are thumb tabs...basically ones you manually enter. Would it make a difference? I actually have FM 7.2.

Katie, you still haven't told us what the problem is.

Thumb tabs are letters that show from the side of a book's trim when the
book is closed, like a good dictionary. Are these thumb tabs or some
other kind of tab?
