FM9 displays incorrect double quotation marks (“”)

The version of My FM is 9.0p237

I find FM9 always displays halt-width (single-byte) double quotation marks, dosen't display full-width (double bytes) double quotation marks, if you apply combined font fenture and type double quotation marks by using Asian IME.

Note: You can select Format > Document > Combined Fonts to find the feature.

If that window doesn't appear, maybe you should switch default non-unicode programe language.

Steps:

1 Open Control Panel.

2 Click Region and Language Settings

3 Click Advanced tab

4 Select one of east-asian language.from drop-down list. eg: Japanese, Korean or Chinese (PRC).

5 Click Ok button

6 Restart your computer.

Reproduced steps

1 Open Combined Fonts window

Type the name of combined font in Combined Font Name field. (eg: SimHei+Arial)

Select one font in Astan Text area. (eg: SimHei)

Select ont font in Western Text area (eg: Arial)

Click Add button, then Click Done button.

2 Type full-width double quotation marks into FM.

You can type this sign by using Microsoft Chinese Pinyin IME.

3 Select full-width quotation marks that your typed just a moment ago

Select one of combined font from font lists (egL SimHei+Arial)

4 You will find the full-width quotation apply western font, not apply Asian Font. (That's a defect.)

Note: If you select Asian Font(Simhei), don't select combined font. You will find displayed double quotation marks is correct.

Shane, if you haven't yet done so, you might also consider posting this to the Framers list at

The Framers list has a more diverse and multi-lingual audience who might be able to offer corroboration and/or assistance in finding a workaround.

因为之前的版本是用Hex code来写引号的

Because the double quatation marks use Hex code in previous version.

这样的原因是Hex code方式表达的是一个全角的字符，所以在复合字体里自动定义成亚洲字体

The reason is using Hex code can express a full-width character., therefore combined font can be definited as Asian font automatically.

大家可以用MIF方式查看

Maybe, can you try it by MIF viewing.

FrameMaker9是不做任何字符转换，直接把引号写入进去

FM9 don't do any conversion for characters, Write the quotation marks into FM directly.

就是 “ 和 ”

I.e “ and ”

更要命的是FrameMaker9已经不支持Hex code方式的引号了

Unfortunately, FM9 hasn't supported the double quotation marks by using Hex code.

等待高手修改或软件更新版本了

I hope some proficient can modify the defect.
