Font - Forgotten Futurist

Hi, For one of my clients I must use the font Forgotten Futurist. FrameMaker does have a problem with that font. After about 100 trial and errors (each time FrameMaker closed immediately) I found out that the single apostrophe sign was the culprit.
Does anyone recognise this problem? Maybe a solution?

Hi Gert,

Do you have FM 2019? And do you have the latest update? The current version is 15.0.4.751.

When does FrameMaker crash? When you save the file or when you save as PDF?

Can you get FrameMaker to crash with a new file (with the default template) and just an apostrophe with this font?

Sometimes special fonts may cause problems, although I haven't heard of something like your issue.

Best regards

Hi Winfried,

Yes. I use FM 2019 and the current version.

FM aborts immifdiately when a the ' appears on the screen or when I enter an apostrophe.
Now I 'm cleaning my document from all ' 's ;-).

After that, and the problem is solved or not, I will send a message.

Gert.

Hello again, Winfried,

In this case, just one single apostroph takes care for an immediate shut down of FM. It's a crime to get rid of all the apostrphes in the document and especially out of all the cross-ref formats.
Each documents carries all cross ref formats which are made in the past. Each single file must cleaned separately.

Do you know a way to clean older documents from all unused ballast?
Kind regards

Gert

Hi Gert,

Did you test your issue with the FrameMaker default template? Not yours?

This should not have any cruft.

Generally you can remove ballast by a MIF wash: Save your file as MIF, open the MIF file again and save as regular FM file.

This should be the first thing to do when you notice any strange behaviour in your file.

There are also scripting solutions to automate this.

E.g.:

Goodmorning Winfried,

Thanks for the response. Yesterday I was out of the office.
First I opened a new document, changed one of the paragraph tag into Forgotten Futurist font. Then I entered an apostroph: FM stops immediately

Then I did the wash-operation as you described, but after that it's still the same.

When I type an apostrophe, FM stops.

For now I stop trying. It took me too much time. I'm going  to ask my client for a different font.

Thanks for now.
