What OS are you on?

Which versions of FrameMaker and Acrobat?

What error message(s) are you getting?

I don't think I've ever heard of a font crashing before. Can you explain what you're trying to do and what's happening?

That screenshot isn't really much help - describe the process you are doing - are you Saving As PDF, Printing to the Adobe PDF printer instance or Publishing to PDF? Are you getting a hard error in FM? What are your PDF settings? Are you embedding the fonts? Do you have rights to the font files for embedding?

I do Save as PDF.
I checked and no, the font that crashed is not embedded in the pdf.

Please make a screen shot from C:\Windows\Fonts\Univers ... by right cliking on it and select Properties - tab Details. This should show whether the font is embeddable:

And can You make a screenshot of the FM document (part of) where this font is used? Does it look correct or distorted?

The screenshot you provided above: what situation (Acrobat dialogue? Distiller something?) does it describe?

Ah! You mean that the word/letter spacing is messed up!

Two things:

  1. Make sure that the fonts that are having issues are OpenType Fonts. Adobe is dropping support for TTF/Type 1 fonts in January 2023 (as in, 2.5 months from now).
  2. Make sure that you are not using the Asian Composer for the tags.

Open the Paragraph Designer.

Click Asian.

Make sure that Use Asian Composer is not selected.

no asian composer.png

If it was selected, clear the option, then click the gear.

Click Global Update Options

Select Asian Properties Only and All Paragraphs and Catalog Entries.

Click Update.
