FrameMaker 10, Win 7 64 bit - cannot print to pdf, and need registration marks

How do I print to a PDF in FrameMaker 10 on Windows 7 64 bit OS. I need registration marks. I can save as a PDF, but registration mark do not display. When I print to PDF, no file is generated. When I print to a ps file with registration marks on, and Distill it, registration marks still do not display.

Has Adobe addressed this problem? I would think that their desktop publishing tool would be able to print to PDF, and print to PDF with registration marks! How else can a document get production printed?

seems you haven't installed current patches.

Please check this with menu Help>About FrameMaker.

Current Version is 10.0.2

And if you'r runnung 10.0.0 install current patches.

I think this issue was solved in 10.0.1.

Besides patching your FM version, you must specify the output sheet size to be larger than the defined page size in FM (otherwise FM has no room to place the registration marks, which fall outside of the defined page size).

I have a 3.5" x 6" manual. Does it matter what page size larger I specify? Do the registration marks always go to the far corners of the page size?

Hi  Greg,

Adding to what Arnis pointed correctly, toning down the page dimension you are using in proportion to your Priting Sheet would be a nice Idea, 3.5"X6" should be fine, but you would be a better judge to observe how much you need to Scale down to fit the dimension appropriately.

Greg,

You do not need to have FrameMaker create your registration marks. After you create the PDF, you can use Acrobat to display them.
