While opening a book in FrameMaker 11, as I tried to open all files in the book, I received this error. How can I open the files without having any issues or errors?

What patch level of FM11?

Can you open the component files individually?

Have you tried a MIF wash on the files?

To answer your questions:

·        FM11 Version 11.02.384  (I went in to see if any updates were needed but it shows it grayed out. I can check with my IT Dept to go in and check as well since they have our PC’s locked down).

·        I cannot open each file from this book individually.

·        I do not know what an “MIF wash on the files” means. If you give me instructions on how to complete this, I can.

> I cannot open each file from this book individually.

Then you wouldn't be able to perform a MIF wash anyway.

> I do not know what an “MIF wash on the files” means.

Can you open any of the component files directly (without going through the book interface)? If so, then it's possible that the book file might be corrupt - in which case, just rebuild it. If not, then try opening a .backup version of one of the files in the book. If this opens, then some of the .fm in that book have become corrupted.

If you can't open any file, then it's possible that one of the customized components in the Linguistics folder has been corrupted. You can try re-naming it (e.g. Linguistics_old; FM will re-create a new one). For FM12, this folder is located in C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Framemaker\12

I opened all files separately, then after closing them, tried opening the book & all the files within the book. Magically, everything opened just fine this morning with no issues at all. Thank you for your help. Now I will know what to do if it happens again.
