After I updated to FM 17.0.6 my custom workspace disappreared (unstructured). I seem to have the *.cfws file in my Windows 11 C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\FrameMaker\17\WorkSpaces\UnStructured\WYSIWYGView folder, but panels in FM have disapeared completely. Reselecting my custom workspace does nothing. I have always saved my workspaces.
Is there s away to recover my old customer workspace? Is this WYSIWYGView folder enough for making backup for the next update?

This is the first report that I've seen of custom workspaces being messed up on updating to this patch level. What version was it created in? If you create a new one, is it maintained ok?

My disappeared custom workspace was created with 17.0.5. Using that, I was able to change workspaces normally and they worked ok unless FM 17.0.6 update was made. My rebuild custom workspace is ok now in 17.0.6 but it remains to be seen what will happen with the next update.

If your rebuilt one is "good" now - I'd take an external backup of the file (just in case); then if a future upgrade messes it up, you've got something to revert back to (potentially).

Jeff, Would you know whether there's a way to revert the 17.0.6 update to 17.0.5? I'm asking because I just updated to 17.0.6 within the last couple of days, but this morning, I've encountered an issue displaying book chapter files in the FM UI normally - they are launching minimized, and are not auto-loading as tabs across the top of the UI workspace. Also, I have to double-click on each chapter title in the book file after it's already been opened in order to view the content.
Thanks -
Randall Bassin

.FM chapter files should appear tabbed and selectable (default) across the top of the FM UI when the standard Open All Files in Book command is selected. Following the 17.0.6 update, all previously saved (and default) Workspace settings disappeared, and are not displayed (nor selectable) from the Workspace drop-down menu. I saved a new Workspace setting from an older FM backup book file, but selecting any Workspace setting from the restored Workspace drop-down menu does not restore proper display of hidden/minimized .FM chapter files in the FM UI window.
To correct this and (at least temporarily) restore proper display of minimized/hidden files in the UI, select Tile, then Consolidate from the Window menu. YMMV.

The next time you update Fm, change the preferences folder name from 17 to 17x (or similar) prior to updating. This will preserve your preferences, including a Workspaces directory, and should allow you to add your workspace file from the 17x directory back into the 17 directory after updating.
Here is a short video to show you how it works.

As other problems seem to exist, I just let you know that I have now been editing my book with FM 17.0.6 one full day. Excluding this disappeared workspace, all everything else seem to work normally in Windows 11.

FYI, my FM Book file and Chapter files opened and display normally in FM 17.0.6 as of this morning.

Hi Ran, how've you been?
It sounds like you're seeing something I've noticed with TOC and IX for years: When adding a new generated file to a book, the generated file opens up in its own window when first opened. After that, and perhaps after consolidating into the tabbed docs in the UI, it seems always to open into the tabs as expected.
Are you perhaps seeing that all files in your books have this behavior?
I'd test it myself, but can't update my working copy until a client is able to update from 17.0.4 in a few weeks.
