FrameMaker (7.2) para tag names - special chars allowed ?

I'm setting up a new template, and it  seemed to make sense to include slashes or hyphens in the names of the paragraph  tags.  But... FrameMaker crashes when I save as PDF if I include those paragraph  tags in the list of styles for PDF bookmarks.
I've used the pipe symbol,  "|", before in tag names with no problem.  But the "/" and "-" chars seem to not  work.  I do think this is likely related to a reported known  issue (http://stuff.mit.edu/afs/athena/software/frame_v7.2/distrib/sun4x_510/ReadMeFirst.html
), number  1245016.
Has anyone run across this before?  Or  know where to find out what chars are allowed in paragraph/character tag names?
Thanks,
-Monique

Monique,

Since FM's lineage is from the unix world, I'd be quite wary of using any special symbols in tag names. The only completely safe one is the underscore "_" . I have used periods without any side effects as well, but I'd stay clear of other symbols.

What sort of naming conventions are using? Typically in template design, one strives to group and identify tags using the first few characters to speed entry via the keyboard shortcuts.
