Is it possible to change the attributes of the change bars.

i.e. from a

• solid line to a double line or
• solid line to a line of asterisks
• solid line to a series of letters

No.

All you can change is the colour, thickness, offset from column and position.

Hi,

Make the change bars 2 or 3 pt wide and red. That should make them stand out enough.
