Hello all,
I don't know why, but for a week now FrameMaker has been changing my indentation automatically sometimes when I bring in new content or change content. While this normally would not be a big deal, it will not led me change it back (at least not by dragging the arrows on the ruler, which is how I'm used to doing it). The only way I have been able to fix it is to start from scratch all over again on whatever document it does it, which is obviously a big waste of time. So, two questions:
1) How do I fix it when this happens
2) How to stop it from happening.
Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Closed FrameMaker to do something else and when I reopened it, it was fixed. Is this simply a bug that can be fixed by restarting FrameMaker? If so, I wish I had known that before I redid a whole document last week...

Explain: "... bring in new content or change content."
If you are pasting from another FM document, you are going to get the indents (and everything else in the para fmt) as local overrides. Re-applying the current document's format for that para tag can fix that, and you can do this globally and fix them all).
... it will not led me change it back (at least not by dragging the arrows on the ruler, which is how I'm used to doing it).
Can you change it in the Paragraph Designer dialog?
I never use the ruler widgets, and my guess is that they also merely cause an ephemeral local override. If you want, for example, for all "Body" paras to have an indent of 0.04 furlongs, set that in
Format > Paragraph Designer > Basic
and [Update All].
For extra credit, also check that [_] Next Pgf Tag: is doing what you want.

Normally it's happening when I am bringing in a picture or copying and pasting text, but its not the actual new content that is changing, but rather text in a completely different frame, often with a different flow tag. Typically, it changes the first line of the page. It also seems to do it the most when that first line is centered and moving the indent to the centered location, so that my centered text is now 3/4 to the right, but if I change it to left indentation, while that now makes the first line centered any subsequent lines are now left indented all the way to the left end of the frame. I have tried designer as well, but to no avail because it doesn't recognize that I have put in a new Tab Stop (because I didn't - FM did).
The fact that closing the program and reopening it fixes the problem is leading me to think it's a bug.

I know this thread is old, but I am having the same problem. It is not very often this happens but I am unable to move the indent back to the left when it does happen. I have attached an image to show what I mean. The para indents (circled) in the top ruler cannot be dragged to set the indent back to the left. The indent always seems to move the same distance to the right each time but I am unable to rectify the problem or find the cause. This happened after I pasted some info into a table but I am not sure at what stage because everything was ok at first and I did not notice when the indent appeared because the table has not indented.
