In my fm document that I am working in, we have headers for sections within the chapter. Then I may have a note at the end of one section. My boss wants me to highlight the paragraph tag called NOTE in yellow but not the text associated with it. Therefore, only the word "NOTE" will be highlighted yellow. The text will remain the same. Is this possible?

Create a character tag that only has the Background color option (set to Yellow) selected. Then in the Paragraph designer for your Note paratag, apply this character tag to the Autonumber field.

Actually, would it be easier to edit the character tags I already have for Note, Note indent 1, Note indent 2, etc? If so, how would I do that?

If you already have these defined, then just select the Background colour for these.
