What you do is that you use the feature in Paragraph Designer which will let you add a graphic above the paragraph.

  1. Set your cursor in a warning text
  2. Go to Paragraph Designer
  3. Go to the tab "Advanced"
  4. Click in the dropdown box "Frame Above"
  5. StudioSm_0-1690290551256.png

1: Go to Reference Pages - View ->Reference Pages

2: Use this Graphic Frame tool to place a graphic frame. When you insert the frame, a prompt for naming the frame will come up. Give the frame a name to your liking.

StudioSm_0-1690350954671.png

3: Insert graphics in the frame you have just named. A line can be created by using the Line Tool

StudioSm_1-1690351139361.png

Whe you hold down the SHIFT key, you can force angles when using the Line Tool, so you can force a straight horisontal line

4: Regarding the warining triangle, you can either draw it from scratch using, for instance, Adobe Illustrator or find a usable graphic on a stock site. When you have a triangle graphic you like and has it saved on your computer you will import it into the graphic frame.

5: Activate the graphic frame. Click File->Import->Graphic and select the triangle graphic you have on your computer and import it.

6: Once it is in the graphic frame, you can scale it, by dragging the corners.

7: Save and go to the Body Pages. Now you can use your graphic frame in the Paragraph Designers advance properties - Frame Above or Below.

Hi Amit:

You can place the caution paragraph in a single cell table. A table can have a rule on just the left side, and shading in the cell. Use Table Designer to set this up.

Hi Barb,

I have set this up, but I am not able to place graphic in the table which has the table's  background color. Also, I want no table border along. I only want Color all around the frame. pls see the screenshot.

Your screen shot shows an orange line at the left, that's why I suggested the table. You add the image inside by assigning the paragraph style that calls in the image.

If you don't need the line—just the shading—you can handle this with paragraph shading on the paragraph style, and adding the same color to the reference page frame.

Hi Amit:

You need to return to the reference pages and select the graphic frame that contains the caution graphics and change the color of the frame to match the color of the table. Use Graphics > Object Properties.

Hi Barb,

I have created the graphic but unable to fill the color. I am listing the steps I followed.

1. I took a graphic frame and named it "Note 1"

2. I then inserted a text frame and wrote "Note" inside it.

3. I again took a text frame inside graphic frame and insert "Note image" into it.

4. I tried to fill the color both from paragraph designer's advanced tab and object style property, but unable to fill it in the whole graphic frame.

I am inserting the screenshot, pls guide me the next steps.

Created "Note 1" at Reference page.

AmitMani30445109n307_0-1690468373037.png

Added table, inserted the graphic "Note1" I tried to fill the color here as well but unable to do it.

Due to the two different colors in the format, the Frame Above approach is likely the most effective, esp. if it requires some custom SVG for the icon. Otherwise, an autonumber hack might suffice.

Is that triangle intended to be a traffic cone, or a:
⚠ U+26A0 WARNING SIGN

If a warning sign (alert symbol), do check with the liability carrier for your organization, regarding conforming use of it (and the signal word CAUTION), as these are typically only used where there is risk of personal injury, and not merely unexpected results. The ANSI spec, for example, discourages the use of the ⚠ with caution, even where caution is appropriate. NOTICE might be preferred.

Unicode currently appears to lack a character for traffic cones. There are some other triangular forms you could use, with the nearest cone mimic being:

⧍ U+29CD TRIANGLE WITH SERIFS AT BOTTOM

Other triangular forms include (and not all may render correctly in the forum):
Δ U+0394 GREEK CAPITAL LETTER DELTA
ᐎ U+140E CANADIAN SYLLABICS WI
ᐏ U+140F CANADIAN SYLLABICS WEST-CREE WI
ᐃ U+1403 CANADIAN SYLLABICS I

∆ U+2206 INCREMENT

ⵠ U+2D60 TIFINAGH LETTER YAV
▲ U+25B2 BLACK UP-POINTING TRIANGLE
△ U+25B3 WHITE UP-POINTING TRIANGLE
◬ U+25EC WHITE UP-POINTING TRIANGLE WITH DOT
◭ U+25ED UP-POINTING TRIANGLE WITH LEFT HALF BLACK
◮ U+25EE UP-POINTING TRIANGLE WITH RIGHT HALF BLACK
⟁ U+27C1 WHITE TRIANGLE CONTAINING SMALL WHITE TRIANGLE

⨹ U+2A39 PLUS SIGN IN TRIANGLE
⨺ U+2A3A MINUS SIGN IN TRIANGLE
⨻ U+2A3B MULTIPLICATION SIGN IN TRIANGLE

If you need to have other content inside the triangle, (? here), this might work, might not:
?⃤ U+20E4 COMBINING ENCLOSING UPWARD POINTING TRIANGLE

These won’t work in FM8…FM2022, due to being above BMP (>U+FFFF):
𐊅 U+10285 LYCIAN LETTER D
𐊣 U+102A3 CARIAN LETTER L
𖼚 U+16F1A MIAO LETTER TLHA
