Hello,

In a frame maker master page, I would like to position the frame containing the page numbering at a specific position : by example at 1.25 cm from the top of the page.

How to do it ? Is it possible to use a tag to do it ?

Hi Pierre:

Bob is referring to Object Properties, you are showing us the Object Style Designer. They both control frames but Object Properties controls the selected frame and Object Style Designer controls all frames assigned that style.

You said: Is it possible to use a tag to do it ? which makes me think you are asking how to create/assign an object style. Again, we use this feature when we want to control multiple frames at one time. If that's the goal, continue reading. If you just want

In Graphic/Objectproperties, without doing anything, I have seen that the selected object (text frame with page numbering) was at 1.25 cm from the top.

But now, if I change this offset from 1.25 cm to 2 cm and click "Save", nothing happens (for Graphic/Object properties I am always with an offset for Top of 1.25 cm instead of 2 cm). So I don't succeed to change the top offset value. Why ?

Hi Pierre:

If you just want to change the one frame you are showing us, use Graphics > Object Properties.

Object Style Designer is a little tricky—it doesn't conform to the other Designers so I find that I have to pay very close attention when I use it. Here's the workflow:

Create the style

  • Select a frame
  • Graphics > Object Style Designer
  • Set your Dimension properties
  • Add a style name in the text box at the bottom
  • Click on Save, then close

Assign the style

  • Select the frame again, if necessary
  • Click on the object style name in the Object Style catalog
  • Assign it to as many other frames as you like

Edit the style

  • Graphics > Object Style Designer
  • Select the style name from the bottom of the dialog box
  • Edit the dimensions
  • Click on Save or Update, it doesn't matter
  • You won't see the frames move until you close the dialog box

Thank you Barb, I understand why I did not succeeded to do it.

I am now in Graphic / "Object properties" and it works perfectly (thank you Bob) :

But I am happy to learn how to use the "Object style designer", and it worked also perfectly.

I think I will use both according to my needs.
