If a landscape master page is applied, why can't I change the image size/object properties?

I am using FrameMaker 2022, and it seems really strange to me that when I want to change an image size, I have to change the master page to a non-landscape page, and only then can I edit the image size.  Switching master pages for this purpose alone is very time-consuming and tedious.  Isn't there a better way?  Why can't I change an image size when the master page is landscape?

The source of  your might be the method how the landscape orientation is defined. As soon as you rotate the text frame anything in it can not be edited - as far as my experience goes.
