Does anyone know if I can find out which illustrations have been referenced from a publication without having to check each one individually using the Object properties box?
I have inherited a large technical publication with 120 chapters and over a thousand illustrations. However, I suspect that only about half the illustrations are actually needed. I would like to delete those unwanted ones but can't find any elegant (i.e. easy) way to discern which ones are needed.
I am using FM 9 on Vista.
Thanks for your help in advance.

The Archive Plugin would help:
http://home.comcast.net/~bruce.foster/Archive.htm
This plugin creates a copy of everything a FrameMaker book/document uses, and puts it into a separate folder. So if you create a complete archive (including a graphics folder), delete the original graphics (which hopefully are located in a single folder) and just put those graphics back which are in the new graphics (archive) folder, you've got everything you need.

There are also some efficiently tools in SQUIDDS TOOLBOX for FrameMaker plug-ins (www.toolboxforme.com):
Book Transfer: It creates a report of all referenced text and graphic insets.
Server Analysis: It creates the structure, path and files names of all books in a directory (or root directory of a server).
If you ask, what images you actual needed, then run Book Transfer:
- generate a report (see above)
- Book Transfer will copy all referenced files, chapters and generated files in a directory you want
Goal: Now, there are the needed files, delete all other files with good conscience.
