Index number issue

I have a book which uses a numbering scheme of chapter.page. Each chapter starts again at page 1 (for example 12.1, 5.2, etc.). When I create an index, it is using only the page number, so I end up with multiple page 1 listings, page 2 listings, etc. How do I edit the numbering scheme of the index entries? It is not done in the paragraph designer as is done in the individual chapters, so I am not sure where to look.

I am using Framemaker 10.

You neeed to look on the IX Reference page of the Index file and change the IndexIX paratag line to include the <$chapnum> building block, i.e. <$chapnum>.<$pagenum>
