Is it possible to auto increment a non sequential series

is it possible to increment a non sequential series in page numbering eg 1, 1A - 2, 2A etc on odd and even pages?

Why not use counter "E" for even pages and counter "O" for odd?

Thats what im looking for but being a novice Im not sure how to do that - is it using paragraph numbering and adding O:(<n=1>) and E:(<n=1>A). Will page 3 increment to (2) etc?

Keep in mind that the series counter applies to paratags only, so if you only have one of these paratags per page, it will work. The FM page number variable counter always is sequential and reflects the current physical page number.

Ok I was trying to use the master pages using the numbering function. This didnt seem to increment correctly, so I have used a style in the body pages and this now works. Thanks for the help.
