It is difficult to make xref in DITA

New Here ,
Dec 15, 2009 Dec 15, 2009

The "DITA CROSS-REFERENCE" dialog shows a list of all DITA elements (hundreds).

To select an element that you want to make a link, you need to look for a long time in this list.

Is it possible to display only the elements with id attribute?

In the FrameMaker9/fminit/ditafm folder, open ditafm.ini

The following line specifies which elements can be targets of xrefs:

XrefElements=concept|task|reference|section|step|ph|glossentry

Hi Teux...

I'm not aware of any way to change the elements listed in this dialog in default FM. However, in the latest version of DITA-FMx, when you make an xref, you are only shown the elements that have an ID value .. making the list much more manageable.

This is a good solution. But it is useless because of an error in FM 9

When I open "DITA CROSS-REFERENCE" dialog I see the short list of elements in compliance with ditafm.ini

But as soon as I select a file for reference the list is updated again with hundreds of items
