I am working in unstructure FrameMaker 2022 and have a book file.  I am trying (unsuccessfully) to establish a link in one file of the book that goes to a location within the book after it is published to pdf.  Nothing I am trying seems to work - any ideas?

How are you inserting your links? If you have two separate books, both books must be open in FrameMaker when you make your PDFs.

Hi, thanks for responding.  I have one book file, containing about 50 or so "chapter" files within said book.  In one of those files, I am trying to establish a link to each of the other files so that a linked index is generated once published; this, so that I don't have to manually insert the links in the pdf file which is generated from teh publish.

You can use cross-references to build your links and generated files or indexes can also convert to PDF links. If you want to meet briefly so I can see what you are doing, please contact me at rick at frameexpert dot com

Thanks, Rick.  I think you've led me to the answer.  Appreciate the feedback.

Also, when the PDFs are deployed, they must have the same relative ../directory/.. location as when linked & rendered, otherwise the links will 404.

Same directory is the ideal case.

Relative ../../down/down/... on same logical file system also works.

Absolute C:\username\projects\projectname\stuff\.. is almost certain to not work.
