Make spell checker learn a correction?

I have almost never used the spellchecker but now I am trying to make it work on some danish text, and I can't figure out the system.

I want the spellchecker to find words which have old spelling conventions and correct them to new conventions. Like this:

Spellchecker finds the word "Saa" which is old danish for "SÃ¥". "SÃ¥" does not figure as an option for correction so I type it myself and click "Correct". This works - FrameMaker inserts "SÃ¥" instead of "Saa".

Now I would like FrameMaker to automatically suggest "SÃ¥" as the first replacement option next time it encounters "Saa". But how do I make FrameMaker do that. Apparently I should be able to add "SÃ¥" to the dictionary but that does not really seem to work.

What am I missing here?

Hi,

You have to enter the correct spelling in the dialog and then click Learn. This adds the correct spelling to your dictionaries. But there isn't a connection to the incorrect spelling.

Does this work? I do not know, if this correct spelling will be suggested. Or if FrameMaker suggests a spelling which is similar to the original word.

Best regards

Hi Winfried.

Thanks for answering. It does not work unfortunately. The interface for dictionaries behaves strangely I think. Or perhaps that is how it is intended..? I would be plausible that I could ask FrameMaker to add the correction "Saa"->"SÃ¥" to a personal dictionary or the general dictionary, but if I try the url's to these files are write protected. And adding a file outside of the write protected area does not seem to work either...

And it really is strange with the suggestions I get for corrections... I never get to correct a word using æøå which are danish characters, even if FrameMaker does recognize the text as danish.

Hi,

The user dictionaries are here:

c:\Users\yourusername\AppData\LocalLow\Adobe\Linguistics\UserDictionaries\

And you can export and import this user dictionaries to edit them in a text editor.

This is explained in the online help:

https://help.adobe.com/en_US/framemaker/using/using-framemaker/user-guide/frm_text_tx-dictionaries.h...

However, this does not explain, why you do not get Danish suggestions.

KIaus Daube had done some research. Some info is here:
