Hi, I am working with a project that needs to highlight certain word or phrases with different colours. I use the background colour option to do this, but when making a pdf, the colour disappears. How do I get this to work? FM10 unstructured.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work in FM10 (or 11) using the CMYK settings - you have to use RGB and convert the colours either in the PDF (with tools like Enfocus' PitstopPro) or during the postscript stage with a tool like PubliPDF (see: Grafikhuset Publi PDF for GPL licensed freebie version; usage details and other info is available at: Welcome to Grafikhuset Publi PDF ).

You could also try using the CMYK joboptions setting in the RGB mode to see if you get an acceptable conversion (however be a

Are you creating the PDF with the CMYK or RGB option?  Are you fully patched to the latest version: 10.0.2?

The version i use is X Pro for swedish, danish, finnish and norwegian 10.1.10.

I do not tick the box to change CMYK to RGB.

Is it perhaps version 1.0.1.10? The latest pach level is 10.0.2 and that addressed a number of PDF related issues.

If you are not creating PDFs for press work, then use the RGB option.

Acrobat says that the version is 10.1.10 and that there are no updates available.

Unfortunately the work is for printing. It highlights the differences of choice between pupils in different grades and what they find essential in a certain text.

It's the FM version that is important, not Acrobat. Prior to the FM10.0.2 patch, the CMYK PDF option had a significant number of bugs.

What colours are you using? Did you create them using the FM color definitions? What is your FM maker.ini setting for the GetLibraryColorRGBFromCMYK option?

The FM version is 10.0.2.419. The colours we use are the standard colours provided in the character designer under background colours. The FM maker.ini setting has not been changed from the original setting provided by FM.

You should also set GetLibraryColorRGBFromCMYK=None to prevent FM from trying to do unnecessary colour conversions.

The background colour feature works correctly in the CMYK mode starting only with FM12.
