Master Page

I hope there is a quick solution to my problem. I need to know how to skip putting a master page on the first page of my document. The first page is a cover page of sorts and it doesn't look right with the header/footer that is necessary for pages 2-102.

Any ideas?

Hi Mary,

I assume you are reading xml or sgml.

Every page in frame needs to have a master page, so you need to have a master page for your coverpage. You can setup a master page control in template's reference page to control (among others) which element in your data changes desired master page and how long (in terms of pages) that master page is effective. In your case it's only one page.

Frame's online help has instructions, search "Assigning master pages to pages containing elements"

Hope this helps,
Martti

1) View > Master Pages

2) Special > Add Master Page. For Initial Page Layout, you can copy from the Right master page. Delete the header and footer frames from the new master page.

3) View > Body Pages

4) Go to page 1 and choose Format > Page Layout > Master Page Usage. Select your new master page and apply it to page 1.
