Is there a way to simply assign a "do not show this section" in Frame? I have modified the EDD/DTD/Schema/ent files extensively, however, whenever I do the whole project comes unglued. Please help. Thank you in advance

Robs11,
I guess you do not want to delete the section, just "hide" it. To do this, you have to use FrameMaker’s native feature "Conditional Text". There are multiple ways to apply text conditions:
Using the latter two options you define a show/hide rule based on some attribute values, or in the case of AXCM based on a certain XPath expression which may include the existence or content of elements in addition to attribute values.

Robs11, Michael,
In S1000D the Show/Hide command was added because we need to use the Identification and Status meta-data values for the DMC and Data module title as well as the issue date. If conditional text were used then these items would become unavailable. Hiding them through formatting gets around this problem.

Ian,
thank you ever so much for your reply.
I was specifically interested in hiding only the preliminaryRqmts tables section and the closeRqmts tables as these sections are not needed in the project we are working on. I attempted to modify the EDD, then the DTD, then the entity files, and the wheels came completely off the project.
I am able to flag these sections as conditional in RoboHelp, but this is another manual process, and I understand how conditional text works, but I just see problems down the road.
All I really want to do is:
1) unenforce the required elements/sections <preliminaryRqmts> and <closeRqmts> of the procedural module, and ultimately
2) modify the formatting of the project in FM10 without having some other aspect of validation and/or DM saving fail outright.
It seems that there are so many dependencies with regard to formatting (nevermind structure), that it is reinventing the wheel, which is why I switched to output transformation.
Any ideas or suggestions aside from output would be great, otherwise that is the route we are taking.
Thanks,
-Rob
