Folks,
I'm posting to the list at the request of Jeanie Shoemaker, who many of us know through her former participation on the various FM & Acrobat lists, with some sad news about another longtime Framer, Rick Henkel.

Rick had surgery to replace a heart valve on November 16. Surgery did not go as planned and Rick passed away early Thursday morning; he just couldn't overcome the many complications that followed. Rick was a good guy, as I think you could tell by his willingness to share his knowledge and experience. Please keep his wife and two children (ages 4 and 10) in your prayers.

I have some Framers list archives back to about 1993, I think, and an occasional "archive dive" for some gem of FM-wizardry always brings up names with long history attached, oftentimes folks we no longer hear from for whatever reason but whose spirit still comes through strong and clear in the messages. Though his voice is silenced, Rick's generous spirit will live on through his words. Thank you, Rick.

That truly is sad news. I remember meeting Rick at the Frameusers Conference in Durham, NC in 2002. His bubbling enthusiasm for all things FrameMaker stuck in my mind. For those that didn't know him, a quick perusal of his FM page (while it's still there), will give you an impression of what he was like.
