Some fonts show in PDFs after "Print" as PDF, but not after "Save As" PDF

In FM9, the Kozuka fonts and one of my custom symbols fonts show in PDFs produced with "Print" and a PDF printer, but not when I do "Save as" and select "Save as type:" PDF. The Kozuka characters come out as boxes, and the custom symbols are missing; though if I highlight the spot where one should be in the PDF, the font name shows. I'm using Acrobat 7 Pro.

I tried changing the Asian font in the Combined Font to the "Pr6N" versions of Kozuka that came with FM9, but that didn't work.

I also tried copying the fonts to "C:\Program Files\Adobe\FrameMaker9\fminit\fonts\adobe" and to various other places, and of course they're in the Windows Fonts folder, to no avail. My other custom symbols fonts work fine, and they are only in the Windows Fonts folder.

These fonts worked fine in FM8. Any ideas?

Thanks

Tami

Hello Tami,

try to save the PDF again, but this time - in the PDF options dialog - enable the checkbox "Convert all CMYK colors to RGB". Do the fonts now appear correctly? If so, this is just another bug of the infamous FM CMYK engine. When converting the colors to RGB, you get the same result as when printing to PDF.
