New Here ,
Feb 05, 2009 Feb 05, 2009
I have Chapters in my FM book. Each Chapter contains a table. I would like the table number to be the same as the chapter number. Is there a way to do this? Right now the table numbers are all 1.

I use the following for each chapter format: C: Chapter <n+>:
For each table, I use the following format: T:Table <n+>:

Any ideas?

Thank you,
Amanda

Or, assuming you're on 6 or above:

Modify your formats to:
C:Chapter <$chapnum>:
T:Table <$chapnum>:

Although a more standard way of numbering would use the chapter number as a prefix for the table, just in case you need a second table: T:Table <$chapnum>.<n+>, for instance.

Then, in the book file, select all chapters except Chapter 1. Right click, select Numbering and then Chapter, and set the numbering to
increment from the previous chapter/file. Apply and Save.

Still in the book file, select Chapter 1, right click, select Numbering and then Chapter, and set the Chapter number to start at 1. Apply and Save.

Save the book file and then update.
