We are importing tab delimited text (by reference) into FrameMaker. The table format sets the title above. Autonumbering works but I am unable to input into the table title. It is treated as if it were part of the import and is blank.

Since the table title is part of the table format definition, it is also part of the inset. Hence, you won't be able to edit it (and you can't define it in the tab delimited file either - catch-22; acxtually an oversight in the table import feature that should ask if the first line is to be included as a title and then the nu,ber of heading rows).
If you really need to import the table contents by reference, then create a Table format without the Table Title. Then use an appropriate paratag to enter the table title before the inset location.

Thought about doing it without a title but the table is 89 pages long . . . and will grow (change too as engineering changes).
The header row works great on import, I can cross ref to the table, all format of the table works well, but I can't enter a title or insert a table continuation variable.
Humpf!

I'd recommend filing this as a bug. Use this link:
There is a possible hack via MIF, where you can manually add the title and continuation variable into the inset, but you would probably need to repeat this everytime the table is updated.
You might want to check with Rick Quatro at http://frameexpert.com/index.htm I believe that he has a script that allows insets to be unlocked/lockeed to allow the contents to be edited.
