Template update: what about tables?

New Here ,

Hello. Using FM 8 in Adobe TCS on WinXP.

I have done some changes to the template we use, and I want to update the current documents with the new template. One of the items we use is a "Note" table (it has two cells, one outside the frame on the left containing the word "Note" and the other inside the frame, containing the text of the note).

How the note table aligns depends on the width of the table. The format that is saved has the correct width (as in, when you create a new table using the "Note" format, it comes in with the correct width). However, the width of the NEW note format is different from the width of the OLD format.

When I import the new template, it does NOT affect the widths of the existing tables.

The question:

Is there a reasonably quick/easy way to re-format the width of the tables? I tried simply selecting the old tables and "applying" the format from the Table Designer, but nothing changed. HELP!

BTW, doing it by eye (dragging the cell widths) is not really an option as I want to be more precise and consistent.

What you're trying to do doesn't really have anything to do with your default table format -- the wider tables essentially have overrides in place that are controlling the column width.

CleanTable, a plug-in from Rick Quattro, will do set the column widths for all the tables in a file or all the tables in all the files in a book.

Highly recommended. www.frameexpert.com
