Hi.

I want to ask a question about unicode in FM9.

In the FDK, it can be set unicode mode or compatibility mode.

where to set the unicode mode or compatibility mode in FM9 application?

And, if I start FM9, and type some text into a fm file, the text is unicode or not?

I have a plug-in for FM7 that is export a table in a fm file to a rtf file and import a table in rtf file to a fm file.

I need to have the same function in FM9.

If the text typed in a fm file is unicode, I think it's ok just copy the table and paste it in a word file,

and use FM import function to import the word file.

Can someone give me some advices?

Best regard.

erieru103,

Starting with version 8 FrameMaker itself always works in Unicode mode. The compatibility mode allows programmers to keep their plug-ins unchanged – as long as they don’t try to work with text characters outside the previously supported range, the product translates the characters into the Unicode range.

Have you tried your plug-in with FrameMaker 9?

Have you tried the copy & paste?

Hi, Michael

Thank you for your advice.

I have tried my plug-in with FM9 using compatibility mode.

And the export function works OK, but import function is NG.

About copy & paste, I also have tried.

But I only tried to copy & paste some text of English, Japanese, Chinaese and Thai.

There was no garbage.

I was not sure that all language will work well.

Best regard.
