I was using framemaker 7.1 and now have version 15. Have TONS of files that need to be updated. Is there any way to do it in bulk instead of opening each file and saving each one?

I have a script called ConvertDocs that will do them in bulk. It is a paid product, but it will save you a lot of valuable time. It is at frameexpert dot com.

I looked at the link, does it convert from framemaker 7?, it was not shown in the dropdown.

You should probably reach out to Rick (@frameexpert) either by DMing him or contacting him through his site.

Did you look at the PDF document? Rick's usually pretty good about documenting stuff like that.

The dropdown is the target file type of the files you are converting. Since you are starting from FrameMaker 7, you just pick the target format in the dropdown. This is an old screenshot so it doesn't show current versions of FrameMaker.

What's the need to update them?

As they need to be revised, they open in later FMs without too much trouble. If they don't need to be revised, just ignore them until they do.

You might open one or two to assess what issues might arise, principally fonts, and legacy codepage/overlay special characters that might be upgraded to Unicode.

Yes. Bob is correct.

And you can open or save all files in a book, when you press SHIFT while you click the File menu.
