User-defined variables in autonumbering...

New Here ,
May 16, 2011 May 16, 2011

I have a table. This table has two cells. In the right cell is a paragraph format that has some text in the autonumber format line (it's kind of a cheat to get the text in the cell). Anyway, the text contains a month and year which has to be changed for every report. I have a variable definition for the month and year that gets changed each time as well.

Question: How can I marry the two? I want to be able to insert the variable in the autonumber text so I only have to change the text once.

I have tried changing the table properties and saving new tables with the text but to no avail...

Here is the table with the "Source Tag" in the right cell, and the Paragraph Designer showing the autonumber format.

Jammatmil,

Why don’t you just put the user-defined variable in the paragraph content instead of the auto-number? This would yield the same result: You change the variable value only once.
