Why did my frames stop flowing?

New Here ,

[Using FM 10] .... I inherited a two-page FM file from a coworker, so I don't know everything about it, and I am also a newbie at this. I was typing and the end of page 2 and it automatically added a page 3 as per normal. From the bottom of page 3 it added page 4, of course. But at the bottom of page 4, new text falls behind the "cutoff line" and does not flow to a new page.

Why did it stop flowing to a new page?

I guess I could add a disconnected page and use Master Page "Right" or "Left" or whatever, and then connect the two frames, but I'm afraid something else will go wrong.

How can I fix it?

Thanks, people.

I went ahead and added a disconnected frame of page-type "Right" after the Left I was working on, and clicked one frame and then the other, and joined them by using Format > Customize Layout > Connect Text Frames. It seemed to work, but text still does not flow from the first to the second. I tried to connect them a second time, and FM says they're already connected. WHY NO FLOW? Thanks in advance.

A possibility is that what you inherited is not using default Left/Right MPs, but MPs with other custom names, and those MPs have flow issues.

Check the MP assignment. See if there's a Reference Page named MasterPageMaps, and what tags are mapped to what.

Believe it or not I tracked the problem down to a corrupted footnote. No point in explaining ... it's fixed.
