Why does (continued) appear BEFORE the Table title, not AFTER?

This table is one of four in the document, and is the only one to experience this problem. Any help?

SOLVED

I deleted the title (which seems to have clear the continuation), then reentered it, then selected Continuation. It works fine now.

It sounds like you entered the variable at the beginning of the line, and not the end of the line. Did you have your text symbols visible when you experienced the behavior?
