I installed TCS2 back in January and became quite frustrated when I was not able to locate Captivate. Some history first. When I first purchased and tried to install TSC2 from the disks, it would not accept my license for upgrading. Tech support had me download the trial version, then activate that with my purchased license.
Apparently Captivate did not install with the trial version because I couldn't find it. So ... I tried installing Captivate from my disks, running #1 first and unchecking everything except Captivate. Everything seems to go okay until I'm asked to insert the 2nd disk. I do that, click Okay, and nothing happens ... absolutely nothing. If I close (hit X) the window, the installer goes directly to finish without installing Captivate, even though I click Resume.
I thought the disk was corrupted and got new ones from Adobe. Same problem. I also got a huge runaround when I called tech support, first being told that I needed to uninstall Creative Suite. I explained to the person that the problem was not with Creative Suite, but with Technical Communication Suite. He said the only fix he had was for Creative Suite. I got bounced around between tech support and customer service for almost three hours. Problem still is not solved.
I'm pulling my hair out. There is what is supposed to be a work around that I found at kb2.adobe.com, but the instructions are rambling, incoherent, and useless. I tried following them, but they just drop off at the point where I am to restart Vista in modified mode. The instructions state to copy certain contents from the installtions disks into a folder on the desktop, but neglects to supply instructions for installing from that folder. Plus ... it takes hours to copy the files into the folder.
I'm very, very frustrated. I was supposed to deliver a draft of a elearning module tomorrow ... now who knows when that'll happen.
I have plenty of room on my hard drive (222 GB), My drive is just fine. I've defragged, etc. Problem persists.
I need help here!! I'm very, very frustrated.

Same problem. Although, I have TC1 and TC2 running on a laptop with NO installation problems, but when I tried to do the same on the consol, first Acrobat and then Captivate will not install.
I am having to uninstall TC1 from main computer, and then uninstall TC2 before I can reinstall TC2 - I am guessing that the Robosource Control is the problem, since version 3.1 is used for both TC1 and TC2. If you install it for one and not the other, then you have problems.
Again, I had no problems with uninstalling and reinstalling TC1 on a laptop using the installation disks.
When I tried the same thing on the console, then it would not install Captivate. However, it did install it once, and I was able to uninstall it, just not reinstall. So, it would appear that some update is causing the problems.
Get ready! An upgraded Adobe Community experience is coming in January.
